Praying Mantis Kung Fu: Leaking Hand Technique
This past weekend we watched Phil Davis setup his takedowns with a parry-jab setup versus Lil Nog. As awesome as Lil Nog's takedown defense was, the overload of angle changes, level changes, and strike-takedown attacks ultimately resulted in a victory for the San Diego based MMA fighter Phil Davis.
Tonight's Mantis Kung Fu class in San Diego is a breakdown of the "skipping stones" entry, as well as the defense and counter attack for the technique.
The technique in Mantis Kung Fu is known as Lou Shou, or Leaking Arm.
Some key pointers:
-
use distance and angle as determined by your counter attack
-
the arm should have the buoyancy of being filled with helium so that it reciprocates the receiving energy rather than becoming hyper-reflexive.
-
spin from the elbow with minimal deviation of your elbow position
