Praying Mantis Kung Fu S.P.A.R.Q Training

Speed Power Agility Reflex Quickness

Mantis Kung Fu is known for rapid fire striking and trapping. Here are the video notes from our San Diego Kung Fu class:

Mantis Kung Fu Drill 1: Zhan Nian Shou

The first Mantis Kung Fu drill is known as Zhan Nian Shou/Jim Lim Sau. Zhan means when incidental contact occurs such as blocking then you passively stick to that contact point like pollen on the opponents sleeve. Nian means to actively paste and pursue the opponent to prevent seperation of contact.

Mantis Kung Fu Drill 2: Gua Shou Feng Shou

The next Mantis Kung Fu drill is called " Hang and Seal" It develops quickness in the hanger block and the sealing traps as well as the ability to "leak" out of the traps by seeking the shortest path of least resistance.

Mantis Kung Fu Drill 3: Hei Hu Tou Xin

The 3rd Mantis Kung Fu drill is known as Black Tiger Steals Heart. The goal is to demoralize the opponent by blocking and striking as simultenous as possible.
